چکیده

HIV-1 MA protein is a viral membrane protein, but it is also involved in nuclear import of the preinitiation complex; the latter requires transfer of some MA molecules to the maturing core particle during virus assembly.

Identification of the nuclear localization signal of human immunodeficiency virus type 2 Vpx.

The Vpx protein of human immunodeficiency virus type 2 (HIV-2) is a viral accessory protein related to, but distinct from, the Vpr protein of HIV-1. Vpx is packaged into virions and, as a component of the viral preintegration complex (PIC), Vpx is required for efficient virus replication in nondividing cells. Therefore, the localization of Vpx in cells is dynamic and dependent upon discrete dom...

Feline immunodeficiency virus Gag is a nuclear shuttling protein.

Lentiviral genomic RNAs are encapsidated by the viral Gag protein during virion assembly. The intracellular location of the initial Gag-RNA interaction is unknown. We previously observed feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) Gag accumulating at the nuclear envelope during live-cell imaging, which suggested that trafficking of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and FIV Gag may differ. Her...

Disturbance of nuclear transport of proteins in CD4+ cells expressing gp160 of human immunodeficiency virus.

An extensive cytopathic effect occurred in the CD4+ cells expressing gp160 of human immunodeficiency virus. A protein capable of nuclear location that was microinjected into such cells was not transported into the nuclei at an early stage when little cytopathic effect had yet to occur.

Subcellular localization of avian sarcoma virus and human immunodeficiency virus type 1 integrases.

The composition and subcellular trafficking of subviral preintegration complexes are reported to vary among the different retroviruses. The process by which the avian sarcoma virus (ASV) preintegration complex gains access to target chromatin remains unknown. Here we report that ASV integrase (IN) expressed as a fusion to beta-galactosidase accumulates in the nuclei of transfected COS-1 cells. ...

Inhibition of human immunodeficiency virus Rev and human T-cell leukemia virus Rex function, but not Mason-Pfizer monkey virus constitutive transport element activity, by a mutant human nucleoporin targeted to Crm1.

The hypothesis that the cellular protein Crm1 mediates human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) Rev-dependent nuclear export posits that Crm1 can directly interact both with the Rev nuclear export signal (NES) and with cellular nucleoporins. Here, we demonstrate that Crm1 is indeed able to interact with active but not defective forms of the HIV-1 Rev NES and of NESs found in other retroviral...
